Meet the Angry Red Security Ant. When you see the Angry Red Security Ant with a Server Error message, that means something has gone wrong and he's let us know so we can fix it.
We don't always take ourselves entirely seriously, but we have a different attitude about your money.
Everything we do is over HTTPS. That means that when you send any information through our site, it's all encrypted.
We minimize the amount of information we have to store about you. We need your email to communicate with you (just notifications - you'll never get spam from us, and we'll never sell your email to anyone). We collect your name, but we're not Facebook. If it's not your real name, we don't care.
We don't store passwords. We store salted hashes, which means that even if our database is compromised, an attacker wouldn't have your password. Note that if a website that can send you a password you forgot (not a link to create a new one), or if tech support can tell you what your password is, that site is not protecting your information and you should take your business elsewhere.
We can't access your money without your permission. We will have deposit-only access to your association's account. When we need to be reimbursed for any approved expenses incurred on your behalf, we need the permission of your association's authorized representative.
We use Dwolla to process all of our transactions. Handling transactions is all they do. You can read about their security practices. This is another way we minimize the data we store. We store your Dwolla ID and two tokens provided by Dwolla. You can read up on tokenization if you'd like. Briefly, we don't store your account information, we just store a token that maps to your account. An attacker can't do anything with the token on its own.
Dwolla also acts as an auditor. They keep a transaction history of any money going into or out of your account. We provide that information to you as well, but this way you have another independent source to verify what we're telling you so you don't have to pore over bank statements.
We understand that Cold Ants Properties LLC is a small, new company, and know you may have misgivings about trusting us with your money. That's why we're bonded, so your money is protected as we earn your trust.
If you have other questions that we haven't addressed, or want further clarification, we're here to set your mind at ease. Just fill out our contact form and we're happy to answer any questions you have.
